The ACE team at Stratford STEM kicked off our year with some team building exercises. We worked together to “cross the Cumberland River”.
We also cracked the code to launch the UFO auto pilot back to earth by lining up in birthday order without using our voices. To embrace the challenges, lines of communication and problem solving strategies were developed between mentors and students. We will use these new found connections to develop an awesome project this year!
Below is a collage of photos from the ACE Mentor team based at MLK Magner School, part of the Metro Nashville Public School system in Nashville. The photos come from a variety of their meetings during the fall semester in 2016.
Leader of Team 1 is David Meek of Brasfield & Gorrie.

The Aces – are beginning the research on our theme of ” Resilient”. These students have completed their interviews for project positions within their class that they will hold throughout the year while working on their project. While the After Aces ( afternoon program) team has completed a scavenger hunt around the school to open their eyes up to particular construction details are required or their school has. Those students have research the theme “Resilient” and Resilience” and found it was much more hard work than anticipated in developing ideas for a project of interest.
Under the direction of ACE Mentor of Nashville President, Greg Stein of HCA, four leaders from the Nashville chapter conducted a tour of key donors to the STEM related program that focuses on the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industries. Without the support of those pictured and several others who were not available, the ACE Mentor program would not be as successful as we have been in the Middle Tennessee market.
Here are the donors we visited and a list of those we will be visiting soon:
The media attached is a radio interview recently conducted about the project pursued by Team 3 in Williamson County, TN. The ACE Mentor program provides mentorship opportunities for high school students in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industries.
